Mysticism in Space and Time: Spiritual Sounds in the Buxheim Charterhouse

On Saturday, October 10, 2026, the former imperial charterhouse Maria Saal in Buxheim will open its historic rooms for an extraordinary concert experience. At Mysticism in Space and Time, recitations of spiritual texts combine with expressive vocal music and solo sound colors to create an evening of silence, resonance, and spiritual expansiveness.

Between Cloister Walls and Spiritual Worlds

The atmosphere of the charterhouse provides the unique setting for a musical exploration through the spirituality of different epochs and world religions. Texts from Friedrich Weinreb, Meister Eckhart, Romano Guardini, Augustine of Hippo, Hadewijch of Brabant, Beatrijs of Nazareth, Arthur Maximilian Miller, Rumi, Mechthild of Magdeburg, and Kabir open perspectives on prophecy, vision, and wisdom.

Recitation, Song, and Fine-Tuned Sound

The ensemble Mystik leads the recitation under the direction of Manfred Mühlbauer in collaboration with Michael Trieb. The Aletheia ensemble, under the direction of Johannes Striegel, brings spiritual songs and vocal soundscapes into the historical architecture. The stage performance is complemented by Lucian Halder on concert guitar and Harald Urban, baritone.

A Concert Experience with a Special Live Atmosphere

In the quiet rooms of the charterhouse, a concert evening unfolds where acoustics, language, and music closely intertwine. The clear orchestration of voices, the dynamic synchronization of recitation and song, along with the immediate audience mood create a concentrated sound space. The program is aimed at all who want to experience spiritual music, literature, and historical concert venues together.
