Mysticism in Space and Time: Spiritual Sounds in the Buxheim Charterhouse
On Friday, October 9, 2026, the former imperial charterhouse Maria Saal in Buxheim will open its historic rooms for an evening of music, recitation, and spiritual interpretation of the world. The concert begins at 7:30 PM, with entry starting at 7:00 PM. The event is marked as sold out.
Where Words Become Sound and Silence
The Mysticism ensemble, under the direction of Manfred Mühlbauer, together with Michael Trieb, presents recitations from various epochs and religious traditions. Texts by Friedrich Weinreb, Meister Eckhart, Romano Guardini, Augustine of Hippo, Hadewijch of Brabant, Rumi, Mechthild of Magdeburg, Kabir, and other authors guide through a spiritual panorama that transcends the boundaries between space, time, and world religions.
Spiritual Music with Intense Stage Atmosphere
The vocal ensemble Aletheia, led by Johannes Striegel, connects the texts with spiritual chants and finely tuned musical dramaturgy. Concert guitar and baritone add additional tonal colors. The orchestration remains chamber-music-like and focused: voices, resonance, and the special acoustics of the former charterhouse enter into an immediate dialogue.
A Concert Experience in a Historic Setting
The Buxheim Charterhouse provides a worthy framework for this unusual concert format. Between monastery walls, historic architecture, and subdued lighting, an atmosphere is created in which every word and every tone has space. The audience's mood is characterized by concentrated calm, closeness to the music, and the interplay of recitation, singing, and instrumental accompaniment.
An Evening for Music, Reflection, and Inner Movement
Mysticism in Space and Time is aimed at all who appreciate spiritual texts, vocal music, and historic places as a shared concert experience. The event combines musical precision with philosophical depth and invites attendees to step out of their everyday life for a few hours.
Conclusion: Visitors can expect an atmospheric evening with spiritual texts, touching songs, and an extraordinary historical backdrop. Those who want to experience the connection between music, mysticism, and a monastery setting live will find in the Buxheim Charterhouse a rare and intense concert venue.
