CANCELLED: A photographic journey through South Africa

The photo lecture 20 Days South Africa by Gertraud and Hermann Beykirch, scheduled for October 23, 2026, has been cancelled. The couple wanted to present their individual journey through some of the most impressive landscapes and regions of South Africa.

From Cape Town along the Garden Route

The focus of the lecture was on impressions from Cape Town and the Garden Route. The photographic journey was intended to connect urban perspectives, coastal landscapes, and changing natural spaces. Images from different regions would have showcased the diversity of South Africa between the Atlantic coast, mountain ranges, and open landscapes.

Safari, Klein Karoo, and Wine Route

Other stops on the journey included a safari park, the Klein Karoo, and the South African wine route. The planned presentation promised a varied examination of photographic travel images: from observing wild animals to dry Karoo landscapes to culturally influenced wine regions.

Travel Photography as Aesthetic Experience

Such a photo lecture offers more than a geographical overview. By combining image selection, personal travel experience, and narrative communication, a vivid artistic experience is created. Colors, lighting moods, shapes, and spatial effects shape the exhibition atmosphere in the lecture hall and make distant landscapes culturally tangible.

Conclusion

The photo lecture has been cancelled and will not take place on October 23, 2026. Interested parties should pay attention to the official event notices from the city of Memmingen and the Reconciliation Church in case a replacement date is announced.
