Grief Cafe Heartmarks: A space for encounter and new hope
On Saturday, October 17, 2026, the Grief Cafe Heartmarks opens its doors in the Church of Reconciliation in Memmingen for families mourning a child, a parent, or a close relative. From 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM, a protected place for exchange, remembrance, and mutual support will be created.
A safe place for grieving families
Each family member experiences grief differently. The Grief Cafe creates an atmosphere where feelings can be expressed, and encounters can happen without pressure. Adults will have opportunities for personal exchange, networking, and collectively searching for perspectives for the times ahead.
Creative offerings for children and teenagers
Children and teenagers can express their feelings through creative activities, enjoy outdoor play and movement, and meet other young people who have also experienced loss. This age-appropriate support is an important part of the event experience and helps families navigate through the grief period together.
Professional support and committed partners
The event is organized by Sternenkinder Memmingen e.V. The leadership is taken by Sonja Schalk, pediatric nurse and grief counselor, and Stephanie Weißfloch, diploma social worker. Other participants include DONUM VITAE Memmingen, the Children's Clinic Memmingen, the Children's Hospice in Allgäu e.V., the Saint Elizabeth Hospice Association Memmingen-Unterallgäu e.V., the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Reconciliation Memmingen, and the Catholic Hospital Pastoral Care.
Event experience in the Church of Reconciliation
The Church of Reconciliation on Eisenacher Weg provides the perfect setting for a calm and appreciative gathering. The focus is on the atmosphere among the participants, personal conversations, and the feeling of not being alone with one's grief. The event planning combines dialogue, creative impulses, and child-friendly activities into a gentle support offering.
