O Eternal Fire: Bach Cantata and Service at St. Martin
A festive service connects in the church of St. Martin with the spiritual sound world of Johann Sebastian Bach. The Bach cantata BWV 34 "O eternal fire, O source of love" opens a space for prayer, reflection, and an impressive faith experience in spiritual community.
Festive Music with Baroque Brilliance
The Pentecost cantata created in 1727 unfolds its effect with three trumpets, timpani, flutes, oboes, and strings. The festive opening chorus leads into the liturgy, while the colorful instrumentation fills the church space with baroque sound splendor.
Soloists, Choir, and Orchestra
The musical service is shaped by Tatjana Fan as alto, Stephanie Schäfer as soprano, and Frank Humbert as bass. Together with the concert choir of St. Martin and the Bach Cantata Orchestra of St. Martin, a religious experience emerges in which word, music, and prayer are closely interconnected.
Liturgy and Spiritual Interpretation
The service is led by KMD Hans-Eberhard Roß. Liturgy and sermon are in the hands of Dean Christoph Schieder. A special highlight is the touching alto aria "Woe to you, you chosen souls" sung by Tatjana Fan. Bach's theology of love and divine fire receives an immediately personal voice.
Open Invitation to the Community
The Bach cantata service is aimed at members of the congregation as well as all people who want to experience spiritual music, evangelical liturgy, and communal reflection. Admission is free.
A Sunday morning in St. Martin promises calm, musical depth, and a connecting faith experience. Experience the Bach cantata live and be carried by its festive spirituality through the service.
