Acting Safely Together: Strengthening Civil Courage in Everyday Life
A good coexistence thrives on people being attentive and supporting one another. The ACTION-DO-SOMETHING workshop on Thursday, October 15, 2026, is aimed at individuals aged 60 and older. Officers from the Memmingen Police Department will provide understandable, practical confidence in handling situations where help is needed.
Knowledge That Provides Safety
In a calm and factual atmosphere, legal backgrounds of civil courage and personal questions will be discussed. Participants will learn how they can help without putting themselves in danger. Uncertainty is replaced by concrete possibilities that can be easily implemented in everyday life.
Practical Tips for Confident Behavior
The workshop combines theoretical foundations with practical behavioral tips. Ways to reduce personal danger, to strategically involve others, and to lower the risk of becoming a victim of a crime through self-assured appearance will be discussed. The offering is explicitly not a self-defense course.
Community and Social Participation
Especially for older adults, the event provides a valuable opportunity to combine health prevention, social participation, and personal safety. Interaction with other interested individuals fosters a sense of community and strengthens trust in acting thoughtfully during critical moments.
Senior-Friendly Event Framework
The workshop takes place in the morning at the Kolbehaus in Memmingen. The event room is located in Room 3 at Entrance 1. Participation is free of charge, but registration is required. The organizer is the Volkshochschule Memmingen in cooperation with the Memmingen Police Department and the Senior Advisory Office of the City of Memmingen.
Conclusion: Being Attentive to One Another
ACTION-DO-SOMETHING provides older citizens with orientation, courage, and practical options for action. Anyone who wants to actively and safely shape community life in Memmingen will experience an informative morning with clear answers and helpful suggestions.
