On Saturday, October 17, 2026, the day trip of the Allgäu branch will take us on the fourth stage of the Brenz hike. From Herbrechtingen to Giengen, followed by a walk through the historic old town that rounds off the trip culturally.
Easy Hike through the Brenz Valley
The approximately 8-kilometer-long route runs over well-maintained asphalt and gravel paths. With a maximum elevation gain of 50 meters, the hike is suitable for everyone who wants to combine nature experiences, movement, and regional discoveries. There are no challenging ascents or descents planned.
River Landscape and Local History
The Brenz shapes a diverse landscape between the Swabian Jura and the Danube Valley. On this stage, the peaceful atmosphere of the river valley combines with the historic impressions of Giengen. During the walk through the old town, participants encounter cultural heritage, regional architecture, and established urban structures.
Traveling Together with Experienced Hiking Guides
The trip is organized by the Allgäu branch of the Moravian-Silesian-Sudeten Mountain Club. Guests are welcome. The hike is designed to be senior-friendly; according to club information, there is the option to cover only part of the route. A packed lunch is recommended for the journey.
Meeting Point and Preparation
The meeting point is at 08:45 at Memmingen train station, Bahnhofstraße 3. Comfortable hiking shoes, weather-appropriate clothing, and sufficient drinks create good conditions for the discovery experience. The journey to the hiking stage will be from Memmingen together.
